After Married at First Sight Australia proved a smash hit with UK viewers, Channel 4 is shaking up the format for the next UK series to make it more like its Aussie cousin. In the upcoming series we’ll see a whopping ten new couples of strangers tie the knot and go on honeymoon before returning to live with their fellow newlyweds.

Married at First Sight UK changes
The new series of Married at First Sight UK will also see the Australian version’s confidence coach Mel Schilling join the show. She told Tyla:
It's going to be very much based on the approach we've been using in Australia. We'll be throwing in that different level of challenge to the couples, not just the wedding and the honeymoons but the surprise elements, too.
The Australian version of Married at First Sight is more of a Love Island-esque reality show which sees all the newlyweds living under one roof after their honeymoons and features challenges, ‘commitment ceremonies’ and weekly dinner parties to really put their marriages to the test.
How to apply for Married at First Sight UK
Channel 4 is still searching for applicants for future Married at First Sight series. They previously said they were looking for ‘particularly attractive and interesting characters,’ but Mel also emphasised that authenticity is also an important factor when it comes to casting the show.
She said:
We've definitely learned over the years that the people who are successful within the experiment and have the best time and end up getting the most out of it are those that really want to be there and who genuinely have tried everything. Maybe they have been unlucky in love and just want to find that person. It's tapping into that motivation.
