Remember the fanfare that lasted about ten years when Lord of the Rings came out? The massively successful book series written by J.R.R Tolkien turned multi-film hit is making a return – this time with a new twist. The original hit which grossed 3 billion worldwide (damn!) has been made into a TV show titled, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power out September 2 produced by Amazon Studios. Rings of Power, a contender to air for the next few years mirrors the new House of the Dragon series spin-off originally based on Game of Thronesthe TV show and book written by George R.R. Martin.

What’s Rings of Power about?
Following the same plot line as the book series Lord of the Rings, the Amazon Prime series will look at on Sauron's Control Ring (often called The One Ring). This ring which got in the way of peacemaking for the people of Middle-earth after the great war against Morgoth, is now in full focus in Rings of Power. The story will explore all the events that led to the creation Sauron’s Control Ring.
Who’s in the cast?
Swedish actress, Morfydd Clark stars as Galadriel the young fighter on her journey to power in the world of Lord of the Rings. Other members of the main cast include English actor Robert Aramayo plays Elrond and American actress, Cynthia Addai-Robinson plays Queen Regent Míriel. Australian actress, Markella Kavenagh makes her breakout role in the series as Eleanor “Nori” Brandyfoot.
How many episodes can we expect?
So far, the first season has eight episodes. Amazon Studios, which according to CBC Canadaspent a whopping $465 million US producing season 1 of Rings of Power,wants to get a run for its money.
The show which was released September 2, 2022 has already had at least 5 seasons of Rings of Power ordered by Amazon upfront.
Estimates last year came out that production costs over several seasons may balloon up to $1 billion US, said The Hollywood Reporter, bringing the show into the ranks of being the most expensive TV show ever to produce.
