The good news is that we already have some idea of who will be taking on the key roles of various Royal Family members in the final two seasons of The Crown–and there are some pretty exciting names already confirmed to be joining the show–including Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II.

Series 5 cast

It was announced in January this year that Imelda Staunton would be taking over from Olivia Colman as the Queen. The 64-year-old actress said she had ‘loved watching’ the first three series of The Crown and was ‘genuinely honoured to be joining such an exceptional creative team and to be taking The Crown to its conclusion.’

Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce was cast as the Queen’s husband Prince Phillip for The Crownseries 5, taking over from Tobias Menzies. Lesley Manville will take on the role of the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret, taking over from Helena Bonham-Carter. Dominic West is rumoured to be in talks to appear as Prince Charles, but this hasn’t yet been officially confirmed.

Will Emma Corrin be in series 5?

Emma Corrin appeared as Princess Diana for the first time in series 4 but it has already been announced that Elizabeth Debicki will be taking on the role in for the fifth season. However, Emma Corrin’s performance has been so well-received that The Crown producers are now reportedly planning to have her return in extended flashback scenes.
