The Great British Bake-Off could be returning to our screens this year!

Sky studios have confirmed that the Great British Bake-Offhas started the filming for their 11th season.

Just like all of our favourite tv shows and much-anticipated films that had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, many believed that GBBO wouldn't return until 2021.

But, as they have already started filming the next season there is a pretty good chance that we will be able to watch British home bakers face off against each other on national telly by the end of the year.

According to Deadline all contestants, judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, as well as presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, have all undergone isolation ahead of the show.

Gary Davey, Sky Studios CEO and Jane Millichip, chief commercial officer both claim that the filming is going very well and that 'You will have your Victoria sponge this year'.

The two were also asked to address rumours that the series won't be taking place under its usual iconic white tent but they remained elusive on the subject, Millichip stated:

It's all happening in deep secret, somewhere in darkest deepest Britain in the shires

And, it's not just the location that is a mystery but in typical fashion, the lineup is being kept on the down-low as well until right before the show is set to air.

One thing we do know about the upcoming season is that Matt Lucas will be appearing as a host for the first time. Great British Bake-Offannounced earlier in the year that the comedian will be joining the team but we will have to wait until season 11 to see his talents at work. Admittedly it can only be good as Lucas and Fielding have already given us all a teaser of their comedic chemistry.
