Corden, Smithy, and Ruth Jones, Nessa, both co-wrote and starred in the Bafta-winning sitcom series. But the comedy pair have revealed a full script is in the works. Corden teased fans with a picture of their hard work on Twitter. In a press release with the BBC, Jones and Corden revealed, “Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like.”
It also appears to be enlisting the full cast from the original series which spanned from 2007 – 2010. This includes Matthew Horne and Joana Page, the long-distance lovers, Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Waters and Alison Steadman.
Director of BBC Content, Charlotte Moore, commented on the news: "Everyone at the BBC is hugely excited to be welcoming back Gavin and Stacey to BBC One this Christmas. We can't wait to see what's happened to everyone over the last nine years, and what's next for one of the nation's favourite comedy families."
