We saw ex-islander Lucie Donlan from Cornwall attempt to initiate phrases of her own, but let’s face it, who was really going to start using ‘bev’ for a guy when we clearly already use it for a quick pint in the local.
Ovie Soko, the pro-basketball player has initiated his own by shouting “Message” directly after each contestant shouts “Text”, and while outsiders are quick on the ball, islanders remain visibly confused.
The outcry references the successful parody of films Boyz N The Hood and South Central. The film features Keenen Wayans as a comedy character who jumps into frame to point out when someone learns a lesson, with the key word, “Message”.
One user took to Twitter to laugh at the islanders, “NOBODY gets the ‘message’ thing Ovie keeps doing! HAVE YOU SEEN DON’T BE A MENACE THOUGH?” The film made a staggering £16 million at the box office on a budget of just £3million and the soundtrack featured huge artists such as Lil Kim, Wu-Tang Clan and Joe.
