The summer series of Love Island has taken place in Mallorca, Spain the past few years, but since the city has seen 17 cases of coronavirus with 1 resulting in death, the series may not see the light of day. Spain has been put on lockdown after 8,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, with the death toll now rising to 300.
The next season of Love Island Summer was slated to take place in the Mallorcan villa, but it's reportedly considered high risk due to the rapidly spreading virus.
According to the Sun, ITV bosses are following the guidelines set by the World Health Organisation and Public Health England and are expected to have a contingency plan in place if the virus is still a major issues by the time Love Island will starts, in June.
The number of UK coronavirus cases has risen to 1,543 - up 171 in just 24 hours. As the UK death toll reached 35 on Sunday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said over-70s could be told to stay home for up to four months within the coming weeks.
