The archaeologists who were excavating in Besançon, in eastern France, did not expect to make such a discovery. As reported by Le Parisien, a team was in the city where the Saint-Jacques hospital was located previously, which has since been destroyed.

A library will soon be built in the place of the health institution. But before the work began, 'preventive excavations' were carried out in the hope of finding some artefacts. The location was not chosen randomly. The site manager explained:
