When we think of sharks, the first thought for many would be of their predatory and dangerous nature with a mix of sharp teeth. While sharks are one of the most feared predators in the waters, they are not prone to the consequences of human pollution. This was proved true recently when pictures of a shark wearing, what appears to be a woman's skirt, were posted online by a diver.

Diver spots a shark

Sharks are usually the talk of the town for their attacks, however, this specific shark is becoming famous for its unusual fashion sense. A diver swimming near the waters of the Cayman Islands spotted a shark that had something wrapped around its body. According to Daily Star, upon a closer look, the diver realised that it was actually a woman's skirt wrapped around its neck.

While the situation might not seem serious, it is anything but that. When the diver, Brad Nelson, posted the pictures on his Facebook, many expressed concerns regarding the well-being of the shark. The skirt appears to be wrapped around the shark in such a way that it is suppressing the shark's gills, making it harder for the shark to breathe. Moreover, as the shark grows the skirt will become tighter around its neck, resulting in an even tighter airflow.

'Very unfashionable skirt'

Ever since posting the photos, brad has garnered the attention of concerned authorities, who are worried about the life of that shark. Brad captioned the photo:

Unfortunately, I didn’t have my fancy scissors to help him out of his predicament... Perhaps I’ll see him again

The authorities have also issued a statement claiming that they are urgently in the process of locating the shark. It was identified as a nurse shark which commonly grows up to 12 feet. The shark that was spotted was only 6 feet yet so it's apparent that it will continue to grow. The Cayman Islands Department of Environment said on Oct. 21 in a Facebook post:

We are doing our best to locate and assist him but so far, we’ve been unsuccessful
