As reported by Mirror, in a very unfortunate turn of events, in October last year, a 19-year-old-student Harry Bolton, a student of University of Hull, died following a suspected spider bite.
The events that unfolded before his death were revealed at an inquest held this week.
Unwell after suspected spider bite
Four days before his death, Harry shared some concerning news with his friend. He told his friend that he thought a spider had bitten him and he was not feeling well.
Taking the advice of his friend, Harry went to the emergency department of Hull Royal Infirmary. The doctors there found that he was running a high temperature and also had a high heart rate. Blood samples were taken from him but besides inflammation, nothing alarming was detected.
Harry then left the hospital and proceeded to head to the student accommodation where he lived.

His housemates saw him alive for the last time the next morning. The day after that they became concerned because he was not responding to them knocking on his door. Security was then called to break open the door and gain access to Harry’s room.
Sadly, they were too late as Harry was found dead in his bed. Paramedics who checked on him reported finding a large gaping wound on his back which appeared to be infected. The wound was the size of a £1.
Worryingly, there was another instance of a student reportedly falling sick after a spider bite in the same student accommodation. Other students had also reported a spider infestation in the complex.
