She felt a ‘tug’ and her handbag move

Nicolle Loughlin was shopping with her toddler son when a heartbreaking incident happened. She was pushing the pram with one hand and carrying her two bags in the other when she felt a sudden 'tug' and her handbag move.

The 30-year-old says she then realised that her shopping bag had disappeared. She had just spent around £100 on two charms from Pandora and was devastated to get them stolen.

She says she was in Marks & Spencer at the time and believes the bag has been snatched.

Ms Loughlin explained:

I was in the store and had two bags on my arm. The smaller bag was at the front of my hand. I was distracted as I was shopping in the food hall, my son was tired and fed up and I was pushing him around.
The next thing, I felt my bigger bag move and as I looked down I realised my bag was gone. The store was really crowded and busy because it was 5pm.

According to Bury Times, Loughlin said that the M&S staff refused to check the security cameras as there are 'too many'.

I said please can you check the CCTV to check it’s not been dropped somewhere or see if someone has taken it and he said 'we’ve just got too many cameras in the store so we can’t check’.

M&S bosses have reviewed CCTV footage after Loughlin made a complaint, but sadly, it was impossible to determine whether the bag went missing in the store, as reported by Edinburgh Live. Not to ruin Ms Loughlin’s Christmas, they have kindly 'offered a gesture of goodwill' which the woman has accepted.

A spokesperson for M&S said:

We hold ourselves to the very highest standards of customer service, so we were sorry to hear that this customer was unhappy with her experience in the store.

Police confirmed the incident was reported to them at 6.30 pm on November 26. They have made no arrests and are still waiting to conduct CCTV enquiries.
