Selfish response to good news
An American woman anonymously shared what happened to her on a ‘Wedding Shaming’ group on Facebook. The 21-year-old wrote:
About a year before the wedding, I found out I was pregnant. I was always told I couldn’t have kids and so obviously, my daughter was not planned but I was over the moon. So I told Kate, expecting excitement.
But instead of excitement, Kate directly tried to talk her friend out of going through with the pregnancy:
She immediately told me that I was going to be stressed trying to get my bridesmaid dress fitting on my own since I’d have to do it after everyone already had theirs (I was due in April, wedding was in June). She reminded me that it was a kid free wedding, and then after thoroughly explaining how difficult her wedding would be more be, she said (verbatim) ‘so don’t you think it might be better for you to have an abortion?’
Unapologetic
Even though the young woman was completely stunned, she still managed to stand her ground and so asked the bride:
I asked if she seriously just suggested I get an abortion to make her wedding go more smoothly????
The stubborn bride then decided to reach out to her own mother to get her to explain to her friend that having a baby would ruin her whole life. Fortunately, instead of siding with her daughter, the mother reacted in the right way:
Her mom texted me and said congratulations and said she was always there to support me no matter what I chose and to call her if I needed guidance.
We don’t know if the two remained friends after all of this, but the bridesmaid has since given birth to a healthy little girl. Congratulations!
