A young woman has shared her chilling experience of paranormal activity with the French publication Gentside. The woman bought a new apartment, but it seemed slightly off right from the first night she slept there.

However, she explains that she had made a commitment - she decided to shrug off her growing suspicions. The woman focused on work and tried to ignore any tell-tale signs that she was sharing the apartment with some other spirit. That is, until the spirit started to make her life a living hell.
The creepy trunk in the apartment
When the woman first moved in, she noticed there was a creepy old trunk tucked into a sort of mezzanine. She could only access the space by using a very steep set of stairs. When she called the old owners, they said not to worry about it and that it wasn’t theirs - so it must just come with the apartment.
When workmen who were renovating the place broke the locks open on it, they found it was empty but had a horrible smell inside of it. The woman decided to put this to the back of her mind for the first night in her new home.
The first night
The woman woke from a nightmare on that first night to see a ‘ghost-like see-through silhouette’ of a figure at the foot of her bed. It signaled to her to come, curling a finger. The woman bravely decided to get out of bed and went over to the figure, but when she reached out to touch it, she experienced the feeling of falling down a flight of stairs and then… she woke up with a start. When she checked her body, she had bruises all over her. She told herself:
You’re going to rationalise this, because you’ve just bought the place and if you start freaking out now you’re finished.
More inexplicable events
The woman placed a TV at the bottom of her bed. Every night, at 3am, the screen would light up. It just showed static, and there was no explanation for it, but the woman refused to be scared in her own house. She didn’t overthink it, and just unplugged the TV.
The strange happenings then moved to the other end of her bed. She had placed a portrait of herself on the wall by her head when she slept. One morning, she woke up to find droplets of water dribbling from the frame, making it look like she was crying.
The woman told herself ‘it’s condensation’ but when she lifted the frame there was nothing there. She said to herself:
God, it’s never, never going to stop.
She explains that she was in a permanent state of fear but she repressed it because she didn’t want it to be true.
A video showed another presence
The woman had a friend, Horia, over to make a video and while they worked on it together, and some weird things started to happen… Horia felt someone stroking her neck and out of nowhere, her earring started to tap against her skin. She jumped up, and then the chair next to the woman moved like someone had come to sit down with her.
The woman started to get angry, and her friend apologised but couldn’t bear to stay - she left. When Horia posted the video, people in the comments said they could hear strange noises and spotted a black cross that appeared on the wall behind the woman as the video went on.
The woman analysed the video in her home and spotted a dark figure in the room with her and her friend. Suddenly, as she sat staring at the screen, a strand of her hair was pulled across her face. She says she ‘lost it’ and tried to get out of the apartment but the door wouldn’t open. When she called her neighbour Karim, the line was blocked with strange sounds. Eventually, she ran to the window and screamed her neighbour’s name until he opened her front door himself.
The woman ran out of the house and drove to her sister’s. But she was terrified of bringing whatever spirit was haunting her into her sister’s house, so she waited in her car for hours. Eventually, she plucked up the courage to go in and slept for a long time. Her sister said she looked like a ghost.
The woman sold the apartment
The woman decided she could take it no more and would sell the apartment, but on the day the contract was to be signed, a sparrow flew right into the window of the lawyer’s office. She explains that it ‘smashed into the lawyer’s window, with the blood and bile’ leaving traces as it slid down the glass.
The lady buying the apartment hesitated, saying that looked like a bad omen to her. However, eventually she signed and the apartment passed hands. Karim’s mother took the trunk and placed it in her garden and - you guessed it - strange things started to happen in their home next!
The woman guesses that all these horrible things ‘had a link to the trunk’. We hope it has now been moved far away!
