At the very end of December, Biarritz police officers carried out an arrest unlike any other. On the night of December 30th, a man in his thirties was spotted drunk in the town center. As they proceeded to arrest him, they noticed that he was accompanied by a goat, which he claimed belonged to him. Unable to leave the animal alone in the city, the police decided to take the thirty-year-old and his goat to a drunk tank.

A goat named Tchoupa
The 35-year-old man was heavily intoxicated and also showed signs of injury to his face. Despite his high blood-alcohol level, he managed to make the police understand that the goat belonged to him. The goat approached him when he called her by her name, 'Tchoupa'.
Disconcerted, the officers took the man and his goat to the police station. The animal was placed in the adjoining cell and given a bowl of water.
The man found himself homeless
The exact reason for the man's presence in downtown Biarritz has not been disclosed, but according to information from Le Parisien, the thirty-something 'says he was chased out of the apartment in which this astonishing pair was spending the evening with friends'.
After spending the night in a drunk tank, the man was able to leave in the company of his goat... but not without receiving a fine for being drunk on the public highway.
