In a video which very quickly became viral (and it’s easy to understand why), you can see a Chinese tourist guide panicking and falling onto his knees while the glass path cracks suddenly underneath his weight. Rest assured though, it wasn’t a real accident but a simple gag. The bridge is actually equipped with special effects ; when the glass detects a load, it comes alive and draws false cracks on its surface. A great idea! If you weren’t already terrified enough from the impression that you were walking on nothing 3200 feet off the ground, this is something which would throw you into a sweat.
On its WeChat, a very famous messaging app used in China, the administration of the region and of Taihang issued an official apology for the terror caused, explaining the shock-factor principle behind this provocative booby trap. Well, we can certainly say the goal was achieved.
