One man claims that Donald Trump is the reason why he's single

In Washington, there are always discussions going on about politics, especially when it comes to dating. In the capital, where Donald Trump only received 4% of the votes, young republicans are finding it hard to find their soulmate and are having to deal with a lot of rejection due to who they voted for in the presidential election in 2016.

Suspected for wanting to bring down the White House, could Donald Trump also be making love lives difficult for Republicans? In Washington, one of the most left-wing cities in the United States, it seems to be becoming extremely complicated for a right-wing person to get a second date.

Involuntarily single, Dante Bucci is a young Republican that has lived in the American capital for six years now. Since Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election in 2016, the young man who barely goes on any dates has explained to AFP news that only one of the 20 dates he’s been on has been successful.

‘We are in a society where you can only date or be with people that think like you,’ said the Marketing student.

In 2016, Donald Trump only received 4% of the votes in Washington, andthe majority of women that Dante Bucci meets are democrats.

‘They want to date some that they can agree with on some issues,’ says the student to explain the importance of politics when it comes to romantic relationships.

An app for people who voted for Donald Trump

In light of the situation that is proving to be problematic for a good number of single republicans in the capital, Emily Moreno had theidea to create a dating app just for people who voted for the 45th president of the United States, otherwise known as Donald Dates.

‘I’ve heard a lot of stories from people who see their dates end as soon as they say that they work for the president or the republicans,’ explained the 26-year-old Donald Trump supporter to AFP, stating that there was a real need for this app’. A few days after the app went online, Emily Moreno claimed that it had already been downloaded 20,000 times.

Despite difficulties he has been having, Dante Bucci still prefers to use apps such as Tinder or Bumble for the time being to try and find his soul mate, rather than Donald Daters. Because of this, he has to deal with some users asking for conservatives to ignore their profile. This is especially true for Kendall, a 24-year-old young woman who says she is ‘allergic to bees and republicans’ on her Tinder profile. SHe said to AFP:

They don’t respect my autonomy. They don’t respect women. They voted for a person who openly bragged about sexually assaulting women, so no.

Faced with this lack of romantic prospects, Dante Bucci dreams about getting out of the American capital. This incapacity to find love is 20% of the reason why he wants to leave Washington. As a moderate republican, defender of gay marriage and abortion rights, the student says it’s disappointing that he ‘can’t even go for a drink without talking about the Supreme Court or the deficit.’

One of the first questions that people ask him on dates is who he voted for in the presidential election in 2016.

These dates then often seem to turn into interrogations that can either end suddenly or brutally, since one of the young man’s friends has already had a drink thrown in his face for this reason. To avoid this type of conflict, some republicans prefer to lie about who they voted for, which is quite a risky thing to do when you’re wanting to start a romantic relationship.
