A studio manager was horrified to find a slug nestled beneath lateral flow test tube. They had got the test tubes from their local pharmacy to test for Covid-19 at home when they made the discovery.

‘There’s A Slug!’
Sophs Forte, 28, was initially taken aback when they noticed something small and black at the bottom of the test tube.
Upon closer examination, they realized the object was a small, slimy slug which had nestled comfortably at the bottom of the tube. Sophs recalled the moment it dawned on them what the intruder was.
I pulled one of the vials and immediately spotted something black – and I quickly realized what it was. I shouted to my family, but nobody believed it until I showed them. It was just squashed in there – luckily it wasn’t moving.
Sophs got the test kits - manufactured by Flowflex and distributed for free by the NHS - from their local pharmacy few weeks ago.
Funny Side Down
According to them, after the initial shock had subsided, they began to see the funny side.
As disgusting as it is, I found it quite funny. I have no idea how a slug would even have ended up in there – at what point in the production line would that happen?! Well… the slug was declining to answer.
They are, however, not blaming the NHS for the slug mess-up. But they encourage the public to pay closer attention to their test tubes moving forward.
I’m not blaming the NHS, they’ve worked hard enough and have a lot on. I don’t know what happened or how. But keep an eye on your Covid tests!
