It looks like termites, get your roof checked as soon as possible

In fact, these sticks are actually called termite mud tubes. The brown tubes poking out from the ceiling were the tracks left behind by the termites.

How to spot termites in your home?

Termite mud tubes are one of the surest sign that your house is infested with termites. As per House Digest, these mud tunnels or shelter tunnels are built by termites with soil, salvia, and body waste.

They serve the purpose of a transportation network that connects termite colony to food sources, which is, wood. Termites can cause irreversible damage to your home and property. Since they feed on wood, they can destroy the structure of your home from the inside, even creating dangerous living conditions for people.

Apart from termite mud tunnels, some other signs of termites in your home are:

  • if you see termite wings, or even flying termites in your home
  • if the floors in your house start to sag or your ceiling begins to drop
  • if the paint on your walls start to bubble up or there are blisters on your wood surfaces
  • if there is rotten wood around your house, it's a sign there might be termites
  • termite droppings is also an indicator

Using vinegar, boric acid, neem oil etc are some of the household tricks to control termites. But if the infestation is serious, call pest control to do a thorough job of eliminating them.
