In India, the number of sexual assaults is at a record high. For the year 2015, according to the National Bureau of Crime, more than 34,000 rapes were committed in the country. In terms of street harassment, almost 80% of Indian women say they have been victims of street harassment. It is a desperate situation since most of the perpetrators of these attacks are never brought to justice.

To counter this scourge, Seena Kumari, a young woman of only 19 years old, decided to invent a sophisticated garment to help women.
She hopes her invention will help women feel less at risk. She sent her prototype to the National Innovation Foundation in order to patent it and be able to extend her amazing product as quickly as possible into the marketplace.
