Boys don't wear nail polish

Sam, a five-year-old American boy, was bullied by his classmates in kindergarten. Why? Because he loves to wear coloured nail polish. Unfortunately, other children don't seem to like that, and one evening, after school, the little boy came home in tears, 'devastated.' He asked to have his nail polish removed so the teasing would stop. His father Aaron stated:

He was devastated at how other kids turned on him, even his friends. He asked them to stop but that just made it worse. Only 1 kid stood up for him.

His father did not intend to leave it at that. He posted a rant on social media, affirming that he had not spent the first 5 years of his son's life teaching him tolerance, acceptance, and the importance of expression and originality, for everything to be swept away by bullying.

Toxic masculinity

Sam's father has posted several photos of his son on Twitter, explaining that this 5-year-old was 'a noisy little rascal...always dirty,' who likes 'sport, trucks' and who also loves 'that he has brightly-coloured nails because he finds it beautiful.'

The father then criticised parents who educated their children under the cult of 'toxic masculinity,' teaching them 'colour codes established for millennia,' and 'restrictive norms that stifle boys.'

He decided to support his son by painting his nails too. His Twitter post has sparked a lot of support for Sam. Many internet users have posted photos of themselves or their sons wearing nail polish and advised Sam to stay true to himself and not to change because of others.
