But turns out, many people have signed up for exactly that. As reported by People, the on-going 9-month-long cruise aboard Serenade of the Seas, is scheduled to last for 274 nights. Travellers will visit more than 60 countries!
This might not be for those unprepared to commit to the cruise life. Or those with motion sickness at sea!
A cruise vacation turned nightmare
Marc Sebastian, A TikToker, wanted to try out the cruise, but definitely not for the whole 9 months. He opted to stay for 18 nights on the South American/Antarctic leg of the cruise, paying $8,500 for the journey.
He has been sharing his experiences aboard the ship on his TikTok. Videos of his life on the cruise has blown up on the platform.
One video shows Sebastian's ocean-view room. He then shows a closet, which he highlights, might not be big enough to fit clothes for a 9-month long cruise.
Then he proceeds to show the tiny shower with 'three temperatures — which is freezing, scolding hot, or third-degree burns.' He follows this up by pointing out that there's a lot of mirrors all over the room.
More recently, he has made videos that show the inherent unpredictability of life on the sea: this includes rude fellow passengers, bad weather conditions and wind gusts that have led to excursions being canceled.
The price of tickets for the entire 274-night trip ranges from $53,999 per person to $117,599 per person.
Reactions to the video
Sebastian's series of videos on life on the cruise has convinced many people that they should stay away from it. One viewer emphatically commented,
This is the best anti-ad for a cruise I’ve ever seen. Talk about the opposite of relaxation
People also had opinions about the steep pricing. One person writes,
$8,500 for not even 3 weeks is insane
Another pointed out,
all the mirrors are to trick your brain that the room is bigger and the curtain blocks the glare from your ocean view window into the TV.
However, some people apparently liked what they saw. One potential passenger says,
Your honesty is helping me decide on whether going on a cruise is for me or not. I actually think I want to go for a week, max.
