Twins reunite after years apart
A few days later, the family was even more surprised since the company contacted them again, this time to announce that they had found out where Audrey’s sister was. The good news was that she, too, lived in Wisconsin.
Tom and Jennifer contacted Audrey's sister's adoptive parents to find out if it was possible for the two sisters to meet. The meeting between Audrey and her sister Gracie could therefore be organised. The two sisters immediately got on well.
Gracie's family told NBC:
We looked at Audrey's pictures on Facebook, and it was crazy to see how much they looked alike—not only are they alike, but their voices are the same.
Each will now be able to enjoy her twin sister.
Adoption in the UK
According to the charity Family Lives, in the UK, there are around 6,000 children who need to be adopted every year. Over 50% are brothers and sisters who would need to be placed together.
Adoption UK chief executive Sue Armstrong Brown said:
We urgently need to see improvements in the way adopters are recruited, trained and supported to ensure these vulnerable children find the loving, stable homes they deserve.
Hopefully more stories end like that of Audrey and Gracie!
