An adorable senior Staffie called Hughie is looking for his forever home. Currently at a shelter in Stoke-on-Trent, Hughie can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, as long as the person adopting him can travel up to visit him at least twice.

Hughie the Staffie

Hughie was picked up from the pound after he had been left there by his owner’s family. Hughie’s original owner died and the remaining family were unable to look after him. The Staffie is 7-years-old and is still full of life.

According to the staff at the shelter, Hughie is a very affectionate pooch and loves nothing more than to snuggle up next to his human. His foster carers said:

He loves his cuddles on the sofa, chew treats, and is food obsessed. He likes to be challenged and would benefit from having an adult around a lot of the time. He enjoys puzzles and games to keep him stimulated.

Hughie is completely house trained and responds to basic commands such as ‘sit’ ‘wait’ and ‘walk on’. His foster family are still working on ‘stay’.

His perfect home

Hughie’s ideal home would be with someone who is often at home as he loves company. He can live with children over 15 as he is a lively and boisterous boy. He cannot live with any other pets. His owners should be patient, calm and understanding and help him settle into his new home.

Hughie can be anxious, especially around other dogs that approach him, therefore his owners should avoid walking him in areas where dogs are off-lead and can approach him.

Hughie would be the ideal dog for someone active who loves to go on daily walks and engage with their pooch with mental activities such as scent work or puzzle toys.
