An impactful message
When the camera on the attraction was triggered during the drop, it caught on film a sign that she was holding that read ‘I’m gay’. Gina’s mum first thought her daughter chose to create the sign in solidarity after the mass shooting in Orlando, but she quickly realized it was her way of coming out. She told the Huffington Post.
Disneyland, to me, is a place where anyone can be themselves and be accepted for it, so I figured it’d be the perfect place to come out in a safe and fun way.
Her mother's reaction
Gina described her mother’s perfect reaction:
She just hugged me and told me she was proud of me! I couldn’t have ever asked for a better response from my family.
The teen then decided to share the photo on Twitter, where it got retweeted more than 5700 times and liked more than 10,300 times. We’re betting that other people will want to copy Gina now!
