However, time and time again, our general assumption about toilet habits have been proven to be wrong. Like how putting toilet paper on a public toilet might be a major health faux pas, or there is such a thing as the right way to wipe yourself or even how much toilet paper you should use on each trip to the loo.
A TikToker has now made a claim so controversial, that the Internet is shocked, disgusted and intrigued all at once. A Reddit user @rgatoNacho re-posted a TikTok video by a woman who claims that she 'stopped wiping about two years ago,' and shared the reason for her choices.
Woman replaces toilet paper with this
In the video, the woman starts off saying,
So I actually don't wipe my bum.
When you think about it in nature, no other animal wipes after they use the restroom. So why do we do that?
She continues saying that she thinks wiping after using the restroom is not good for health due to the chemicals in toilet paper or in wipes.
Instead, she apparently replaced her toilet paper with litter! She says,
I started using the litter box instead of a toilet.
According to her, the switch has led her to have better immunity and health.

Risks of not wiping properly after going to the toilet
Viewers of the video found it hard to believe, with people saying the video is just an attempt at humour. One comment stated,
Obviously satire
People in the comment section also informed others that the creator who posted the TikTok is known for humorous and satirical content.
Though the video might be satire, butt health and getting toilet habits right is no joke. As per Health, not wiping your butt or even wiping incorrectly can cause a host of health complications, including urinary tract infections, rectal issues, anal fissures or even haemorrhoids. This is due to all the bacteria in our faecal matter.
Dr. Alessa Dweck, MD explains that wiping from urethra to anus is the right way. She says,
There are far more bacteria in the rectal area; that's why you want to avoid dragging the toilet paper in the other direction toward your urethra. Bringing this bacteria up [towards the] front can contribute to a urinary tract infection.
So clearly, toilet habit is no laughing matter!
