Confession
A Tiktokker who creates content about menopause took to the platform recently to reveal a family secret to her nearly 300,000 followers. Dubbed ‘confession’ Marcella disclosed that she and her husband found out they were cousins while expecting a baby together, the Mirror reports.
Posting under the handle @beingmarcellahill, the content creator explained to viewers:
I was sitting on the couch looking for the baby we're about to have and I was on a family search site. My husband was next to me on his own family search and was like 'oh that's funny - we have the same grandma and grandpa's names'
This coincidence naturally piqued their interest so they decided to dig further and discovered that Marcella’s grandfather is her grandmother’s first cousin. The elders confirmed this to be true meaning ‘we’re third cousins’, Marcella added.
'No big deal'
What makes their story even more intriguing is the fact that they had grown up together as children at one point. Others found their story to be just as fascinating. Marcella jokingly added that:
We have won a prize for being the closest related in a neighbourhood activity and when I go to my family reunion he gets to go to his too - at the same time.
Viewers who watched the revelatory video on TikTok chimed in with their own opinions with many agreeing that it was ‘no big deal’. One user captured it in a disturbingly succinct comment:
We're all cousins if you go back far enough.
