Discriminated against for her outfit
During the heatwave that hit Europe, the 19-year-old woman adapted her clothing to the temperatures that were around thirty-nine degrees in the town of Malmö in the south of Sweden. When she tried to get on the bus, the driver stopped her. Her crime, according to the Mirror, wearing shorts and a top that was too short. The driver stated:
You can’t go dressed like that on our buses. You show way too much.
Justifying it with an obscure dress code for passengers that doesn't actually exist. Amanda Hansson shared her story in a post on Facebook.
Banned from the bus
The young Swedish woman wrote on her Facebook account:
He says I can’t go with if I don’t get dressed. I’m furious. I’m going off the bus because whether I want to stay tuned in pure protest, I was so angry so I just want to scream and cry,I have never felt this humiliated ever in my entire life and that it should take place in the public environment on a bus drives me crazy.
Because this was just blatant sexism, Amanda Hansson contacted the bus company. The company apologised profusely and dismissed the driver in question. The bus company has also talked about putting into place a training program to make drivers aware of issues regarding sexism in their day-to-day lives.
