However, sometimes, the surgeons and hospital itself could be a cause for concern. Earlier, a woman who underwent a surgery was left stumped after discovering doctors left object the size of a 'dinner plate,' inside her stomach!
Now in another terrifying case, as reported by Fox 13 Seattle, a woman who underwent surgery in Mexico, woke up from the operation and was left horrified. She discovered that her doctor performed several cosmetic procedures on her body, which she had not consented to.
Washington woman left with a horrible surgery experience in Mexico
Kimberly McCormick, a resident of Washington, wanted to have an elective cosmetic surgery, and decided to travel to Tijuana, Mexico. The reason she did so is because cosmetic surgeries are way cheaper in Mexico, than anywhere else in the US.
After having a successful weight-loss surgery around 6 years ago in a facility in Tijuana, Kimberly decided to go back to the same place. This time she wanted a breast lift and to remove the loose skin on her arms, thighs and stomach.
When she woke up from her surgery this time, she realised something was terribly wrong. She discovered she had been given unwanted breast implants. She says,
When I woke up my chest was really sore, and I just started bawling.
Not just that, she was also given a 'Brazilian Butt Lift,' that she did not want. The doctor however failed to remove the excess skin that she had wanted gone.
She was charged extra for the unwanted surgeries
Kimberly also states that the care she received was really bad. She says,
The care was horrible, and I’ve been disfigured, and now I’m going to have to go under more surgery
Even though the patient protested the additional unwanted surgeries, the hospital forced her to cough up an extra $2,500. In order to be able to leave the hospital, she was also pressured to sign paperwork that claimed she authorised the unwanted surgery.
In spite of the harrowing ordeal, Kimberly chooses to look at the bright side, saying,
I think I’m lucky that I’m here. I’m lucky the damage isn’t any worse. However, I’m looking at another surgery because the implants they put in are so big. I don’t have enough skin to enclose them. They are not healing.
She does advise other people like her seeking cheap cosmetic surgeries abroad to be vigilant about the choices they make.
