This woman gave birth to twin girls who were born in different years

Twins, regardless of they being identical or sharing similar personalities or not, one thing they definitely share is a birthday. But for two-week-old twin girls born to the same parents, not only are their birthdays different, they were born in different years.

Two birth years

A Texas-based woman, Kali Jo Scott was delivered of her twins around midnight on New Year's Eve. However, the girls were born in separate years although barely minutes apart. She had her first twin girl Annie at 11:55 pm on 31 December and her sister, Effie Rose at 12:01am on 01 January 2023 –6 minutes later, the New York Post reports. Kali Jo told CBS Austin:

We had kinda joked wouldn’t it be funny if, you know with the holiday and New Year’s Eve over the weekend. If they had their own birthday, and then it turned out that was more of a possibility than we realized.

According to local media, the expectant mum had checked into the Texas Presbyterian Hospital Denton for the C-Section a week prior to her daughters’ original due date.

‘Individual personalities’

Sharing the good news with friends on Facebook, Kali Jo announced that Annie was the last to be born at the facility in 2022 while Effie Rose was the first birth recorded in 2023. The happy parents said they are glad the girls get to celebrate their own birthdays.

You always still want to make sure they have their own individual personality and know that they are special and unique. So this gets to add to that special and uniqueness that some twins don’t maybe get… One will always get the glitter and confetti of New Year’s Eve and one gets to kick it off with a brand-new year on New Year’s Day.
