He is the embodiment of malevolence, the one who leads good believers astray: the devil. He goes by different names in different religions and at different times, but whatever his surname, his reputation as a liar devoid of all morals sticks to his skin. Speaking of skin, he's often portrayed as a red, horned, repulsive giant... While works of fiction also depict him as a man with irresistible charisma. What does Satan look like? The Devil, the divider

A brief etymological aside before we get to the heart of the matter. In Hebrew, Satan means 'adversary' and the word 'Devil' comes from the Greek διάβολος, meaning 'one who divides'.

A temptress, a seducer, an enemy of God, he represents vice and is sometimes used to test the faith of believers. But its appearance, like its definition, has changed considerably with the times and religions. In Christianity, he is associated with both the serpent of Genesis (the one who tempted Eve) and a fallen angel. Not easy to make sense of all these representations.

But never one to shy away from a challenge, ChatGPT has managed to give us a frankly satisfying description of the Devil.

'Piercing eyes of intense red'

So, does the Devil, according to A.I., look like the one from South Park, or more like the one from the Lucifer series? Surprisingly, ChatGPT has a pretty accurate idea of Satan's physique. And, spoiler alert, we're pretty much on the second option:

So far, the Devil looks more like a normal man, albeit more charming than the average. But wait until you read the rest of the description:

His horns rise proudly above his head, a symbol of his power and status. They are curved and gleaming, reflecting the light in an almost hypnotic way. His skin is of a pale complexion, but it seems to emit an eerie glow in the dark, reminding us of his link with darkness.

When it comes to passing unnoticed in society, it's a failure. And it doesn't stop there:

Its appearance is that of a being both humanoid and bestial. Its hands, with long, tapering fingers, bear sharp nails, ready to grasp and manipulate. A tail snaking behind him, agile and sinuous, underlines his reptilian and elusive side.
