Using the same foundation all year long
Although this might be obvious for some, it’s not to everyone. Obviously, sun exposure has an effect on the shade of foundation we choose. Therefore, wearing the same foundation in summer and winter isn’t a good idea. In winter, our skin tone isn’t the same and so you should go for a lighter foundation.
Letting your hair touch wool
It’s cold, and obviously our first instinct is to cover up from head to toe. Although this might sound like a good idea, wearing a woolly hat might not be the best way to do it. In fact, wearing this material on your head tends to weaken your hair fibres and make them more fragile. The thin and fine hairs are the most exposed and become brittle mainly due to the static electricity caused by the wool.
Using powder and matte finishes
In winter, the cold and sometimes dry air has a direct impact on your skin. You should avoid powder foundations and even powders altogether because they tend to dry the skin out even more than it already is. Avoid them!
Taking too hot a shower
We’re not going to tell you to do the opposite. When it’s cold, it’s great to end the day under a hot shower! Unfortunately, water that’s too hot tends to dry the skin out that’s already been damaged by the winter. Instead, take lukewarm showers to hydrate your skin as much as possible!
Using the same moisturiser all year long
Just like foundation, moisturisers have to be changed depending on the season. In winter, you should be using richer and more hydrating formulas to protect your skin and prevent it from getting too tight.
