1. Cost: The price of a breast augmentation varies depending on the surgeon, the country, the type of implants you want, and the size you want. If you do not wish to go through surgery, there is an alternate method of injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the breasts. However, the result is temporary, and the sessions are quite expensive because they have to be renewed several times before the result is final. A classic breast enlargement with implants varies between £2,500 and £7,500. Don't be tempted by low prices, make sure you choose a surgeon you are comfortable with and who has good credentials. One of the best ways to find a good surgeon is by recommendation. Breast augmentation cannot be done on the NHS.
2. Pain: The pain experienced after breast augmentation depends on the sensitivity of each patient. While some women experience only mild discomfort, others are extremely uncomfortable with the pain. This depends essentially on the size of the implants: the larger the implants, the more painful it will be. Postoperative pain also depends on the location of the implants: if placed in front of the pectoralis muscle then the pains are less severe than if they are positioned behind. The discomfort is especially noticeable the first two days and can be relieved by taking painkillers such as paracetamol. However, the pain rarely exceeds fifteen days.
3. Results: The results of a breast augmentation are not immediately visible. The breasts are likely to be swollen for a month after the operation. The final result is usually visible 4 to 6 months after the operation.
4. Side effects and risks: The side effects of breast augmentation vary from one woman to another and from one surgeon to another, hence the importance of finding the right surgeon for you. It is possible that you will experience bruising. Wearing a sports bra for about 20 days is strongly recommended. A loss of chest sensitivity is sometimes reported. An appointment with the surgeon is necessary 6 months then 1 year after the operation in order to ensure that you are happy with the result.
