Are dirty jeans 'in' right now?
Gucci is selling jeans with fake grass stains on the knees. Yeah, you read that right. Remember those green stains you'd have on your clothes after playing outside all afternoon when you were a kid? Well, the same stains that drove our parents crazy are now trendy!
If you're a true denim lover, the Italian fashion house also grass-stained overalls. Both items are part of the Gucci men's ready-to-wear fall/winter 2020 collection, which the brand says has a 'grunge vibe.' You can read on the Italian luxury brand's website:
This wide-leg denim pant is crafted from organic cotton specifically treated for a stained-like, distressed effect.
A controversial pair of grungy jeans
In making these £620 jeans (and £895 overalls), the brand wanted to explore a new take on denim, reinterpreting it with different designs and wash techniques that blur the line between vintage and contemporary.
If Gucci's goal was to stand out, it's safe to say they've succeeded. Since the release of these grass-stained jeans, social networks have been on fire. Many users commented that the jeans and overalls were sorely overpriced.
