Perineum sunning, a new tanning technique
Sunny days have finally arrived and the temperature is starting to rise. So it's time to get out your bathing suit and get into the sun to get a tan and some colour. There's nothing like a good dose of vitamin D to get you back on track. In fact, some influencers have launched a new tanning technique, called perineum sunning.
Perineum sunning first appeared in 2019 and consists of exposing your perineum to the sun for a few seconds. This tanning technique supposedly allows you to fill up on vitamin D quicker. To perform perineum sunning, you just have to get naked, lift your legs, and expose your private parts to the sun. However, there are some risks involved that should not be overlooked.
Perineum sunning is not without risk
Supposedly, exposing your perineum to the sun for 30 seconds can store as much energy as a whole day in the sun. However, this part of the body is not used to being exposed to the sun's rays, and there are risks involved. Scientists assure us that the benefits of this tanning technique are unfounded.
Dr Diana Gall told Insider:
There is no evidence that it works.
For him, twenty minutes of exposure of the body to the sun is more than enough to fill up with energy. Other doctors point out that the perineum is a sensitive part of the body. Dermatologist Catherine Gauchet said:
UV rays do not necessarily have a beneficial effect. Especially since the mucous membranes are never very far from the skin.
Perineum sunning is thus not the miracle technique to take up this summer!
