Summer is quite short, but we still end up investing a lot of money into summer clothes, just to put them away for a good part of the year. Why not turn your favourite seasonal pieces into all-year-round summer-inspired outfits that will make you stand out when the skies are grey?

Colder seasons are all about layers, and a bit of creativity and some inexpensive basics will help you save a small fortune and, in a way, a planet too.
Wear these summer crop tops under a blazer for a night out
A crop top on its own is not a good idea in the winter unless it’s paired with a solid blazer. A perfect outfit for a night out, it’s very practical too.
These pieces are tiny and don’t take much space in your wardrobe, it's easy to keep them handy for more style inspiration throughout colder seasons.
Add layers to a short or midi slip dress
Your light summer dresses will be seen in a new light when worn with layers underneath. A simple long-sleeved top, a pair of tights or leggings, boots, and maybe even a belt will make a practical outfit. Play with colours to add some spark but avoid complicated patterns. If you wear a colourful dress, let all your layers be monochrome.
Rock your shorts with a pair of tights
Denim and other solid fabric-made shorts look refreshing in the winter. Wear them with a pair of tights and a chunky jumper or oversized blazer for a little rebellious but ultimately on-trend look.
Pair your bright skirt or dress with a chunky sweater
Magic happens when thinner fabrics just silk, satin, or organza are combined with chunky knitwear. The contrast looks cheeky and dangerously attractive, especially when knee-high boots are involved. Highly recommended.
A word of advice
Not all summer clothes can be worn in the winter. Flowery maxi dresses or too light fabric not paired with a more solid one can make you look like you lost your luggage on the way back from the holidays.
Remember be bold and creative, and let your seasonal outfits make summer last for you.
