1. The Bardot neckline: While previous seasons favoured dresses with low-cut necklines, the spring 2018 collection is all about boat collars or the Bardot neckline, which have off-the-shoulder sleeves. The trend is for the sleeve to slip further down the arms but those who prefer the sophisticated can opt for a classic Bardot dress.
2. Bell Sleeves: Unlike balloon sleeves, which had their heyday a few years ago, bell sleeves favour volume towards the forearms rather than the shoulders. Be careful to choose a very simple design for the rest of the dress if you're opting for bell sleeves.
3. Feathers: A popular accessory among brides for many years, the feather has really come to the forefront in this season's bridal gowns. But the key words are fluidity and simplicity.
4. Removable petticoats: A classic for many seasons, the removable petticoat is still in use in many haute couture collections. Whilst it is usually in tulle, it can be made from richer materials for a more dramatic effect.
5. Black detail: In previous seasons, coloured wedding dresses had their moment. This time, the trend is for black detailing, initiated by Vera Wang and Marchesa. Reem Acra even pushes the trend further with many totally black wedding dresses. You'll definitely stand out!
6. Minimalist: Good news for brides who prefer simple dresses without too much flouncy detail: minimalist dresses are in. These can be made in many different materials such as muslin or crepe. The preferred colours are white and ivory.
7. Bridal jumpsuits: Each season, designers offer bridal trousers, for those who prefer comfort or a more modern look. Spring 2018 is no exception.
8. Corsets: The bustier is back in the spring 2018 fashion shows. Corsets are a popular look for brides this year.
9. Capes: A trend in 2017, the cape is making its comeback in the spring of 2018. And this time, there's total freedom: short or long, in light and transparent materials or more sophisticated. It's up to you to choose according to the style of the dress you want.
10. Bows: Carolina Herrera had launched the trend in 2017 and inspired many other creators. In the spring of 2018, knots are everywhere. But whether you want them to be big and bold or much more discreet is up to you, there is something for everyone.
