Slim down without exercising or dieting
Scientists carried out a study with 240 overweight volunteers between 2009 and 2014. Those who followed a diet that was rich in fibre lost more than 20kg in a year in comparison to the 2kg on average lost by the those who did not. And that’s quite a big difference!
How does fibre help you slim down?
Fibre is excellent for improving your bowel movements. They naturally make you feel fuller for longer which can help when you’re wanting to lose weight while sticking to a balanced diet and not starving yourself. Fibre lowers your body’s sugar levels and helps keep your glycaemic index quite low. Quite positive indeed!
Which foods are rich in fibre?
If you want to add more fibre to your diet, you need to eat foods made with wholemeal or half wholemeal flour. It’s also a good idea to eat vegetables which contain less sugar than fruits.

- White beans
- Peas
- Almonds
- Peanuts
- Walnuts
- Kiwis
- Chickpeas
- Dried figs
- Lentils
- Oats
- Oat bran
- Rye
