As reported by CNBC, Costco's CFO has just spoken about their stand on this bargain combo, whose price has stayed the same since 1985. Honestly, can we think of anything else whose price has shown such stability?
The price of the $1.50 hot-dog-and-soda combo is ‘forever’
According to CNBC, Costco’s CFO Richard Galanti was asked earlier this week if they would consider raising the price of their iconic $1.50 combo.
The CFO first responded by joking that,
lightning just struck me
He then went on to say that Costco would hold on to the same prices for their hot dog and soda 'forever.' He is quoted as saying,
Some businesses that are doing well with margin ... those things help us be more aggressive in other areas, or, as you mentioned, hold the price on the hot dog and the soda a little longer — forever.
Costco isn’t raising membership fees
Earlier this week, Los Angeles Timeshad reported that Costco would also not be raising its membership fees after the company saw a record number of membership renewals.
For now, Costco’s appeal among its members and the public remains as strong as ever. The company is also optimistic about being able to sell the left over holiday stock from last year, this festive season.
