As reported by Daily Star, here is the secret to making perfect sandwiches, and the small changes that makes a world of difference to it.
Get the filling to bread ratio right
Daily Star consulted with Kara Myers, founder and recipe developer at Sweetly Splendid. According to her, when it comes to the sandwich filling, though most people might consider the more, the merrier, restraint is actually key.
As per Myers, you should avoid using thick slices of meat. Instead, she advices,
Use thinly sliced meat. It can seem like a better option to use a thicker slice of meat but, in reality, going with a stack of thinly sliced meat gives you a better distribution of ingredients and makes for an easier bite.
The trick to avoid soggy sandwiches
Again, to avoid having soggy sandwiches, the expert provides a handy tip. You should ensure that the wet ingredients in your sandwiches are kept away from the bread.
So, while most people might think their veggies go first and then the meat, it's actually the opposite. You should put soggy stuff like tomatoes or lettuce etc. in the centre of the sandwich.
Myers says,
Don't put your wet ingredients next to the bread. Spreads and sauces can be placed directly on the bread, but keep things like tomatoes and pickles in the centre of the sandwich.
Think about putting them on top of the meat instead of underneath. That helps prevent your bread from being soaked in pickle juice (or tomato juice), getting soggy and falling apart.
