Whilefood safety guidelines are to be taken extremely seriously under all circumstances, it is definitely more upsetting and shocking when major corporations appear to flout these rules and safety standards. As reported by Birmingham Live, a customer in the UK faced the harrowing experience of opening her McDonald’s burger only to find it crawling with flies and maggots.

Customer allegedly served maggot infested Big Mac

The customer whose name is Georgia Poole, was shopping with her mum at The Fort in Erdington, West Midlands earlier this month, on 6 September. They picked up lunch from the McDonald’s drive-thru nearby and drove home.

After reaching home, the 18-year-old heard a buzzing sound, which she though was coming from headphones. But to her utter horror, when she removed her Double Cheeseburger, a fly flew out from it. Miss Poole claims that her ordeal was not over. There were also maggots crawling inside her McDonald's meal.

Birmingham Live quoted Miss Poole as saying,

When I opened the bag I then thought ‘is it coming from the burger or is it just me?’. I could hear the buzzing and I was just speechless as it flew out. My sister then screamed ‘oh my god, there’s maggots in there’.
