While some of us might be left feeling lethargic and sleepy after eating greasy fast-food, it is less common to get food poisoning, particularly from established fast-food joints such as McDonald’s. But that doesn’t mean customers haven’t had some terrible food experiences there.

Just last year, apart from people finding a slew of shocking things in their food such as shards of glass, dishtowel etc., a woman also sued McDonald’s for allegedly serving her chemicals in her coffee.
Now, as reported by Blog TO, a woman in Toronto has alleged that she was served undercooked chicken nuggets at McDonald’s which left her ill for 3 days.
Customer allegedly served raw chicken nuggets
As per the report, Rebecca Boyd visited the McDonald’s at 1280 Markham Road on 7 January and picked up some chicken nuggets via the drive-thru lane. She ate two and a half pieces of nuggets before releasing the food was actually not properly cooked.
She says,
…they were raw and mushy on the inside.
I might have noticed earlier, but I was super hungry from not having eaten all day.
When she complained to the restaurant, she found the manager did not address her complaint satisfactorily. She continues,
All that was offered was a refund, and only if I drove back to the same store, 36 km away, with my three-year-old in tow.
The manager, Deepam, wasn't accommodating at all and didn't seem to care much about this happening, which makes me wonder how many other people have had this.
After accidentally consuming the nuggets, Boyd experienced nausea and flu-like symptoms and was left feeling ill for the next three days. The customer expressed feeling 'totally disgusted,' after this experience.
She even contacted Toronto Public Health to complain but nothing has been done about the complaint yet.

Risks of eating uncooked meat or chicken
Eating undercooked food, particularly meat and chicken is a grave health risk. As per CDC, most raw poultry contains Campylobacter, and might also contain bacteria like Salmonella, and Clostridium perfringens. Raw meat may contain Salmonella, E. coli, Yersinia, and other bacteria.
While we might control these bacteria at home by cooking our foods properly, it is essential for restaurants and other places that serve food to people to follow adequate legally-mandated guidelines when it comes to cooking, storing and serving food to customers.
