McDonald's launches iconic super hero collectibles for a limited time only

A short while ago, McDonald's adult fans were pleasantly shocked when it launched adult happy meals. It was a roaring success with the toy collectibles becoming seriously coveted items with some of them even being sold online for thousands of dollars. Now McDonald’s has again raised the bar when it comes to Happy Meals by offering up some seriously cool collectibles.

As reported by Delish, for a limited time only, McDonald’s Happy Meals would come with super hero toys based on characters from the soon-to-be-released Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie. This latest launch is definitely set to appeal to children and adults alike.

McDonald’s limited Black Panther toys

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the second instalment of the super hit 2018 film Black Panther. The limited-edition release will have a total of 10 different super heroes from the film, including Shuri and Namor.

This launch is very significant not only because this film is slated to be one of the biggest films to be released this year, but also because of what it means for the strides that have been taken in terms of addressing questions of representation.

McDonald’s celebrating representation

Jennifer Healan, VP of U.S. Marketing, Brand Content, and Engagement at McDonald’s said in a statement, that the latest launch aims to celebrate the inner hero inside each of us. She says,

The first Black Panther movie inspired a new generation of Marvel lovers–and that’s because of the powerful story it told, brought to life by an incredibly talented cast.

It set a whole new standard for representation on the big screen. And now, we’re excited to bring that experience to our restaurants and help fans see and celebrate their inner hero with this new Happy Meal–because seeing is believing.
