In some cases, the truth is not really pretty like in one instance when fast-food customers were horrified after witnessing 'nasty' prep at a McDonald's. Now, due to a video on TikTok, McDonald's customers are having to confront another kind of nasty reality: the sheer amount of grease that needs to be cleared off the grill due to the nature of the food served at McDonald's.
Video of McDonald's employee handling burger grill
A TikTok video posted by an account by the handle @braendelluke1, shows a McDonald's staff cleaning out a grill. The video is captioned,
Literally the grill gets cleaned every 8 hours lol. Pretty nasty huh
In the video, the McDonald's employee can be seen dumping out a huge amount of grease onto a bin. The voiceover on the video is addressed towards McDonald's diner, and says,
So ya, this is what y'all be eating at McDonald's
The prospect of so much grease in McDonald's food clearly stuck a nerve as the video has gone viral and been viewed by over 3.5 million people.

Reactions to the TikTok video
Though the amount of grease in the video was shocking, it was not enough to put loyal McDonald's fans off their favourite food. Most commenters did not care. One fan breezily replied,
Oh still eating it
Some people pointed out that grease accumulation is normal part of cooking, and happens at home too. One such comment states,
Left over grease and char happens when you cook at home too. you just happen to be cooking for way more people, you are discarding it, not serving it
A McDonald's employee informed,
that is supposed to be cleaned at least three times a day. we are fairly clean. at least my store is
Some viewers were annoyed by the mocking tone of the video. One answered back cheekily,
why would the customers eat the grease from the grill at the end of the day? i work there
