Again, you could be someone just getting into wines, and want to try your first sip of it but aren't ready to buy a tool specifically for wine yet!
As shared by Wine Enthusiast, here are 3 simple tricks you can use to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew.
Use a key as a bottle opener
Yes, turns out common household objects can be a super effective way to open a wine bottle. A key can mimic the same effect onto a wine cork as a bottle opener.
- Get a sharp ket that is long enough to be held comfortably
- Push the key into the cork at 45° angle. Apply pressure and insert in into the cork
- Once it is wedged in properly, rotate slightly and start pulling the key upward
- The cork should pop right open.

Grab a hanger to open a wine bottle
For this trick, you need to be a little more deft with your hands, and possibly sacrifice a hanger to the cause of drinking wine.
- Grab a thin wire hanger, and then twist the neck to create a narrow hook
- Jam the hook into the cork, and through it
- Once its properly through to the other side of the cork, you can start pulling the hook
- The cork should slide right out along with the hooked wire of the hanger.
Use a screwdriver as a corkscrew
This hack is probably the one which has the maximum chances of making a mess. So be sure to go gentle and steady with it. You would need a screwdriver and a friend to help manoeuvre the bottle and the tool.
- Insert a screwdriver into the wine cork until it is wedged in properly
- Now, to get the screw driver out, use the backside of a hammer
- The grip of the screw should be enough to get the cork out of the wine bottle. Enjoy!
