‘Surprised and confused’
According to Coventry Live, Jonathan James Daniel Randle, 24 chewed on the foreign material while eating a four pack of Southern Fried Chicken Steaks from the Bedworth branch last week for £2.
The Nuneaton man told the news outlet he immediately spat out the food he had in his month. Closer examination revealed that the foreign material was a piece of pink plastic. The dad of two said he couldn’t tell if that was the only piece in his meal as he had already eaten most of it.
I was also worried as it’s plastic inside the chicken that has been cooked. It was just me who ate the chicken with the plastic not sure if I swallowed any of it or not. But thankfully none of my kids ate it.
He was grateful that his kids hadn’t eaten the chicken
Reactions
When Randle shared his story on social media, some of his followers were as shocked and disgusted as he felt. One wrote:
Disgusting imagine a kid could have choked on that.
After filing a complaint with the Tesco branch where he got the food from, he was compensated with a £5 voucher. A Tesco spokesperson told CoventryLive:
We were sorry to hear about this. We have stringent quality checks in place throughout the production process meaning that issues like this are exceptionally rare.
However, Randle would like the retailer to investigate the incident to ensure that such quality mishaps do not pose a threat to the health of consumers.
