British supermarket chain, ASDA is cautioning customers against consuming a popular dessert after it was found to contain traces of walnuts and hazelnuts. These two ingredients which can cause life-threatening allergies in some people, were not mentioned on the label. Customers who bought the Plant Based Lemon Cheesecake have been asked to return it for refund.

Potential allergic reactions
ASDA issued a recall of the products on Tuesday, September 13, after it emerged that the presence of these two nuts in the cake could pose a serious health risk to people who are allergic to them, according to MyLondon.com. The retailer has apologized to the public, warning customers to return the treat to the store for full refund.

Other actions
Apart from issuing a public apology and publishing a notice to customers, the supermarket has reached out to relevant allergy support groups to inform their members of the recall and potential risk associated with the products. No other ASDA products are known to be affected.

ASDA is taking the precautionary step of recalling ASDA Plant Based Lemon Cheesecake because it may contain traces of walnuts and hazelnuts, which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to walnuts or hazelnuts.
