While more and more plastic alternatives have been introduced in recent years, it is estimated that there is approximately 150 million tonnes of plastic polluting our oceans and despite current efforts, this number is expected to treble by 2025.
On the 22nd May 2019 Michael Gove announced that the ban will take action from April 2020 and it seems the public are truly on board! Boasting the positive impact that the ban could have, Gove explained, “It also helps further drive plastic-free options and alternatives for the public so they can truly make more sustainable choices in their daily lives.”
