Make your table decor stand out

A red tablecloth instantly gives a festive feel to any dining place, and this Dunelm’s Scandi Jolly one can be wiped clean to be used year after year and is now selling at £4.20 with The Sun’s discount, down from £6.

Table runners will also do the job and tend to be cheaper, and these Poundland ones will only cost you £1 each. The store also sells Christmas-themed paper napkins, a true basic if children are present at the dining table.

Primark sells a four-pack of snowflake placemats for £3.50.

If you have white cloth napkins you can add a festive feel by loosely tying a piece of string around the middle and slipping a sprig of holly inside. Cinching in a white napkin with a red ribbon is another low-cost way to add an elegant nod to Christmas.

Does your table need a centrepiece?

A beautiful centrepiece always gives the wow factor. An easy hack is filling a big vase with baubles or ornaments. This is also a great way to repurpose any broken decorations that can no longer hang on the tree.

You can also create a big festive bouquet for the middle of the table with plants from your garden. Branches of holly or foliage with red berries would do perfectly.

What about the Christmas candles and lights?

A couple of candles on the table create a warm twinkle that will make your table look extra inviting.

IKEA is always a great destination for candles, but Poundland offers an even better deal with a pack of two Christmas glass star tea light holders for £1.

If you don’t already have spare tea lights hiding at the back of a cupboard, Wilko sells a 30-pack of spiced apple-fragranced ones for £1.55.

And why not bring a little festive cheer to your home with this pre-lit Berry decorated hanging basket that now sells at £20 instead of the original £40 at Homebase?
