Food debris is deposited during cooking, which forms a nest for microbes (...) sometimes crumbs of burnt crusts will release carcinogenic fumes on the food or certain chemical household products carry the risk of emitting harmful vapors if they have not been rinsed well.
So, cleaning your oven after each use is clearly essential. But don't worry, here are a few tips on how to do it quickly and easily.
Clean the oven racks
Before cleaning your oven, you need to take care of the racks. Remove them from the appliance and scrub vigorously with a sponge soaked in hot water and white vinegar. If the stains have trouble coming out, you can sprinkle the racks with baking soda and spray with vinegar. Leave on for 10 minutes and then scrub with your sponge. Your racks will be as good as new!
Disinfect your oven
To make sure your oven is disinfected, cut a lemon in half, squeeze the juice and pour it into a container. Then place it in the oven and turn it on with the temperature at 180°C. Leave it for about 20 minutes and the oven will be perfectly disinfected. Finally, you can also wipe the walls inside the oven with a sponge so that no dirt is missed.
Degrease the glass door
The glass oven door often tends to be greasy and stained. To get it clean, you'll need to make a mixture of hot water, lemon and white vinegar. Rub a lotion-soaked sponge on each side of the oven door, using the soft side to avoid scratching. Scrub vigorously for instant results.
Avoid having to clean your oven
Finally, if you want to avoid having to clean your oven too regularly, the simple answer is to use baking paper: this will make it easier to collect residue, and protect the racks. However, be careful not to let it catch fire in the appliance!
