This dog was heavily pregnant when her owners decided to abandon her. But instead of contacting a shelter or another rehoming service, they just dumped the terrified animal by a vet clinic overnight. They left a note in an attempt to justify this extreme act of animal cruelty.

Dumped by the vets
The pregnant dog was left outside of a vet hospital in Fresno, California at night. The clinic was unable to care for her due to legal liability and contacted Fresno Humane. The charity’s animal control officer Breana Begin was heartbroken by the case.
The dog’s former owners didn’t just dump her in the most despicable way when she most needed them, they also left a note justifying their actions.
Begin shared the note and the footage of the dog in a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Newsweek writes.
The heartbreaking note
The TikTok post, which has generated over 100k views and more than 5.5k comments, showed the handwritten note followed by heartbreaking footage of the shaking dog inside her cage. The pooch is also seen slowly walking around the shelter with her very pregnant belly.
Begin commented in her video:
To the family who dumped their pregnant dog at the front door of the veterinary hospital late last night. I picked her up this morning. She was terrified. She didn't deserve this. She deserved better.
The note from her former 'parents' reads:
I'm sorry. Due to a family emergency, we cannot keep it. We love her but unfortunately, we don't want to dump her and her babies just on the street. My dad tried everything without success.
Although the previous owners may have believed they were doing an act better than leaving her on the side of the road, Begin confirmed that the vet hospital is not ‘legally allowed’ to care for stray animals ‘due to liability’.

She’s safe now
Thanks to the animal shelter and its dedicated staff, the poor pooch was able to safely birth eight puppies. She is now a proud mum to six girls and two boys. The fur kids are ‘doing well’.
All nine animals will be rehomed.
